Phew - feeling the burn!

Well - no excuses now I'm back!

After the past few weeks off with bronchitis (well timed 2 days after my last post ...) I have chipped away at my plan.

In that time, 2 games of hockey (1 week of bye), 2 parkruns (1 sick/soccer duties) and a bit of walking - a couple of PT sessions.

Last Monday that ALL changed.  My PT was ill and cancelled quite late (not her fault - a sudden illness).  I was in the car ready to go, and figured - why not just go.   So I did.  I did arms/chest/back and broke myself :P   I also went Wed and Thursday.

This week, 2 days, 2 session.   Monday legs with the other half and worked hard.   Did legs and DOMs in the calves today.  Ouch.  Today chest/back/biceps. Feeling 'toasty' right now.  Have made the decision if not working - gym.  Going well so far!

Weight wise, nothing has shifted.  I need to work on nutrition more but pleased with the ptogress :)

Oh and to please my PT more.  11 days - breakfast EVERY day.  Beyond pleased with that!

2015 - so far the year of excuses.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.  That is what 2015 has been about.  I'll own it - my first foray into a work/life/sport/kids balance was not successful for my training - every other ball managed to stay in the air though.

Why is it that it is me that has been put last?  Interesting point to ponder.

The buck stops here.   I'm over my own excuses.

My hip - tried an oesto and situation has improved.
My knee - it's due to the hip.  Work on posture!
I don't have time - use the mornings.
Kids have afterschool sport - exercise there
I'm tired - will feel better after exercise.
Sore - up the magnesium.
No one wanted to walk with me - well then walk by yourself.
Haters - haters are going to hate regardless
I hate tracking - well, that's life.
I don't know what to have other than sandwiches - plan.  Look at soups.

I'm back.   I'm happy - and I'm strong.  I can re start and finish this.  Life is too short to be unhappy.  Putting yourself first sometimes isn't being selfish - if it means my kids have a mum for longer, then it is what needs to happen.

Goals:

3X gym sessions (Legs, arms, whole body)
2X walks
1x hockey

for 4 weeks.

After that, get clearance to start C-5km.

Races -

- Run for a Wish.
- Australia Day (or around that time - plan to run full 5km for it)
- Women's 5km
- Run Devonport 5km
- Launceston 10 (doing 10 - run the whole way)
- Run Melbourne half.  (using run/walk if needed :) )

It is a lofty dream - but achievable.  I can and I will do this.  I've put it out there.  No excuses.  Let's get this done!

The year didn't quite pan out as I had planned

Firstly, my running journey started, then faltered then fizzled out thanks to injury and denial.

I managed to put on 12 kilos.

I've managed to injure my hip.

I've managed to grow out of 2 pairs of jeans - and not in the good way.

I've stopped tracking.

I had to back out of joining a running group, as I still can't run.

But,

I've learned about my inner determination

I've seen who are a good influence on me and my exercise, and who isn't.

I've had what I thought were good people judge me, and I've had people who I thought weren't become friends and encourage me.

I've continued to parkwalk to keep my brain going and legs moving

I've got through 2 months of no husband (working away) fairly well

I've kept smiling.

I've kept PTing, and am exercising at least 5 times a week.
 -
I've seen the positive in this injury - even when there was little to be positive about.

I haven't given up.  Roll on 2015 - you will be my b*tch!

In the week of challenging myself

This post has taken ages to write - I'm still stunned I did it.

A few weeks ago, a friend offered me an opportunity to come to a pole cardio class.  In otherwise, poledancing with cardio activities.

I very nervously said yes.

On Tuesday, I rocked up.

It took me ages to walk through these doors!  I really worried about how I could do it, and whether the poles had a weight limit - and what if I was over it:?  Stress, stress!

I looked in and saw this.   Everyone relaxed, lots of welcoming looks and comments.  I still felt like a twit though!

Warm up started with a skip and run interchangeably, and then lead to an intro of all the turns needed.  It all came unstuck.  I just could not trust myself to get my feet off the group.  It didn't help that the person next to me seemed to be a natural at it.

Nevermind, we tried all the moves, and then were led into the dance/turns.  I found through each of the songs, I did improve.  All but one of the turns I could manage.  I couldn't climb the pole in one of the tracks, but this didn't phase me - I knew I would have no hope!  My fears dissipated the longer it went.

I am a little annoyed with myself though - I forgot to start the HRM until after the first 2 parts.  So, I'm rounding up my burn to 700 :)

Needless to say, I was so pleased I was given the opportunity, and so glad I got through my fear.  Thank you to Sheri and Sarah from Pole Revolution.  If you can, check out the classes.  A great full body workout - can't wait until next week!

Cadbury Marathon and 1st year fitaversary.

For this race - Husband is doing the 1/2 marathon - Miss G, Boy child 1 and Boy child 2 doing the 5km with me.

Well, lets preface this with P, M and D asking me to come for a run with them last Thursday (so 3 days before the cadbury marathon).  I told them I could run, but was damn slow (and needed breaks).  All told me that was fine.  We started to run, and I ran 1.1 kms before stopping.  We then walk/ran back to the start and then I ran 1.1km again.  During this run I realised that once you get past the burning lungs at the 300m mark, it wasn't as hard.  I think I've always given up at this stage to walk.  A plan began in my head to run 2 km at the 5k.  If I could run 1 I could run 2 right?

Friday we headed to Hobart for the race.  We checked out the 1/2 marathon course on the way, with Husband noting the hills, and the areas where he could surge (he loves hills the crazy man!).  We started driving across the bridge and it was long.  I said to him 'wow it looks like 5km' - he replied 'well, 5km always looks long, but it really isn't'.

At that moment, I decided I would just run on Sunday.  Run as far as I could, and screw the time.  It is my first year fitarversary, and I needed something to show to me what I had learned.  I went to tell Husband about the plan, and then he was getting slightly toey about the race.  Mentioning how it had more hills than he expected - and really sounded nervous.  I changed the subject after offering some platitudes - and by the time we had got to the hotel I was just happy to get changed and hit the pool there!  That night I tossed and turned until I fell into a fitful sleep. I had a dream I ran the whole way in 47 minutes.  Needless to say I was pissed at the time!

Saturday we were busy, and Husband was not really talking about what he wanted to do about the race.  It sounds awful submissive of me, but I really didn't want to bother him with my thoughts about running, and resolved to do it and just blow him out of the water.  We went out to tea with The Running Group participants, and all were (or seemed) really nervous.  Lots of pinning numbers onto tops afterwards, and a good nights sleep :)

Sunday, we were up at 4.50.  In the am.  Ugh.  Early.  Wrong!

Far too early!  Kidlets coped rather well I must say (but were very excited to run!)

The 1/2 began at 6.30.  Well 6.33 to be precise - a group of runners were held up by late busses.  At 6.33, they were off and running.  728 runners looking fresh and ready for 21.1kms.

There were a heap of TRG people in there.  They all finished, and all did so well.  Well done x

Here is husband sprinting past at the 1 and a 1/2 km mark -

He ended up with a 1.39.49.  A 9 minute PB.  My hero - he ran so strong, and so well!

Onto the 5km.  It started about 1/2 an hour after he finished (which meant I didn't see a lot of the running group finish (sorry - I love seeing you guys finish the last of a 1/2 - you all give it all!)

The course -

There were 532 at the start.  It was more crowded than I expected!

I started out slowly (well I thought :P )  I was running with Miss G for the first 1.4 km.  She then announced I was too slow and took off.  This was one of the proudest moments of my race - her first self motivated run/walk.  I saw her a few times from then on, but from what I saw - she ran a lot more than she walked.  Without prompting to keep going - so bloody proud!

I got to the drink station (about 1.6km) and felt like dying.  I had a quick drink, but kept going (just quietly, I knew if I stopped that was the end of my running).  I kept moving, watching the walk/run crowd smashing me as I went.  I did get disheartened at the almost 2km spot, with the headwinds and the potholes.  I talked myself out of it.

I got to 3kms, and figured I'd shuffled 3, I could do 3.5.  Stupid.  At 3.5 there was a BIG arsed hill.  Bigger than I had even trained for.  Nevertheless, I figured if I looked 1m ahead on the ground, I could run it.  I got to 4.5 and that hill was over.  I looked at my watch and uttered 'holy fuck' (sorry kidlets who were around!) and figured there was only 500m to go, I'd smash it out.

I so didn't.  It was my shuffle at best.  It didn't look pretty in any way.

I came 440.  I did a 46.01.  Boy child 1 - 31.25, Boy child 2 - 37.24 (he ran every step - so proud!), Miss G - 42.50ish.(again proud.  She ran with me for 1.4km without stopping - not only that - she self motivated to the finish - a huge step for her!)

I'll be honest.  I hate the way I look.  I look fat and uncomfortable and well - completely exhausted.

You know what though - I am two of those three. I am fat, and exhausted.  I ran as fast as I could, and although I was uncomfortable at the time, it was a push myself one, not how I looked.  I did it, and I survived.  I ran the whole f*cking way!  1km farthest run to 5km run in 3 days?  Man, that's crazy - but I believed on the start line I could do it, and I did.

A message I got from A on my FB wall.  The best thing I could have seen Sunday - thank you!

The face of a 5km non stop runner.  Who knew a fat chick could run that far?

I'm proud.  I am so disappointed at the time ( 46.01).  I had more in me I think. My PB is 39.20.  I can go faster.  But, OMG - I ran 5km.  I ran 5 times more than I have ever imagined running before. I didn't stop once - even though the course was tough - with hills and headwinds.  I ran, and ran and ran.  It was slow - it was slower than a lot of peoples walk :(  But, I kept going.  Not a walking step at all.  Every time I feel down about the time, I remind myself about the run. I beat the 400,000 Tassie people who didn't attend (LOL - lets face it - most of those would kick my arse too - they just weren't there :P )

So, I've made a decision.  My PB for parkrun is 39.20.  It is mostly walking right?  I ran a 5km like a boss at 46.01.  So .... I have a walk pb and a run pb.

My new aim (since I ran a PB about 6 weeks ahead of schedule) is to beat my walk PB.  Not only to beat it - but I need to run the whole way.

No excuses.  Lets do it!

Wow - what a year.

This year has been such a roller coaster.  I've learned so very much about myself and others - but also I've learned what not to do.

I've learned to like new foods.  Healthy foods.  I've learned the importance of water.  I've learned that exercise can be fun.  I've learned that exercise goals need to be set - and there is no shame in reaching for those stars.  I've made some awesome new friends, I've firmed up friendships with others.  I've laughed, I've cried.  I've experienced DOMS that have had me in tears.  I've joined a gym, I've got a PT (two things I'd never thought I would do).

All in all, I'm proud of what I have achieved.

A big shout out to thank A, F, C and K.  All have got me walking.  And listen to me bitch.  LOL  Oh and mum if she is stalking this :P

A massive thank you to the Lonnie Crew - L and P have been a support the whole way through.

A big thank you for J - who had me in her home for 3 days so I could achieve my dream to run the color run.

To 12WBT.  I can not thank you enough for what you have taught me.  Food to nourish and enjoy.

To B (Check this out).  Fantastic PT.  Who gets it.  Who pushes further than I thought was possible.  Who gets bad days with nutrition and helps without the lecture (which is the last thing you need when you feel like crap)

To the parkrunners and the running group.  Both hold a dear spot in my heart.  P persuaded us to come on the 3rd March, for a 12WBT opportunity.   It was a stinker of a day, and Miss G and I were dirt dead last.  Every single volunteer cheered us on at the end, not to mention a heap of runners that had finished.   There was no judgement in being the fattest there coming last.  Just a load of support.  The family have become regulars :)

My husband did his first parkrun then, and was hooked.  This lead to joining The Running Group (site).  From there, we have both met some of our biggest supporters - who cheer us on (even little old lowly me doing a 5, while they do 1/2 marathons).  Coach (or CC as he is known) has written me a running plan - and what is better, I can follow it and achieve.  There are a couple (that I know of!) that have great blogs.  A's with - (blog) and L with (blog).  Both blogs have taught me a lot about running, about never giving up, and dreaming big.

The biggest thank you is for my little family - L, Miss G, Boy child 1 and boy child 2.  All have had unwavering support - entering stuff they never thought was possible, smiling and never giving up on me.  Love you all x

I'll write more about my one year fitaversary - but just wanted to get that all out.  Thank you one and all.  Thank you.

Rest day.

And boy, did my body need it!

This week I've burned 4646 calories in exercise.  I've done some running training, a run (well run walk), a hill walk, a 10km walk and a couple of 5kms.  I've also done a legs workout in the gym.

I've checked and rechecked my macros for my intended weight loss, and settled into a pattern that seems to be working for me.  I'm really enjoying the challenge of macros, and how to get things to fit in - or whether I want something to fit in.

I'm currently preparing  for a 5km run in Hobart next week.  The kidlets and I are all doing it, with the husband pulling out the big guns and doing a 1/2 marathon.  As a treat, I've booked him the VIP package.   He gets fed, watered, massaged and all round spoiled.  The plebs (aka us 5ker's) get 2 chocolate bars at the end of ours.  LOL

I am hoping I can do a 40 or below for this run.  39.20 is my PB, but I haven't come close to it in my running attempts (Yes, I can walk with speed, quite surprising for a fat chick).  If I can squeeze out a 40 I will be over the moon!

So the plan this week -

Monday - fartlek session (either outside if the weather is nice or treadmill).  Arms session.  Walk when G has gymnastics perhaps?
Tuesday - PT.  Walk in afternoon (?)
Wednesday - Run session.  Run 2 min 30, walk 2 min 30.  Go for about 20 minutes.  + Walk
Thursday - Sprints.  Walk
Friday - Walk with husband and kidlets (in Hobart.  Will do a walk run (run as long as can, walk - rinse and repeat).  Hopefully a swim
Saturday - rest day.  Probably walk around town
Sunday - race day.  Also want to do at least a 2km walk as a cool down.  Also swim hopefully :)

Cals are around 1900 - 2200.   Am using a macros calculator that has me at 45% Carbs, 30% Fats, 25% Protein.  Will keep this up for a month with tracking and see how it all goes.  Cals are higher than what I am used to with 12WBT - but I had to try this - for me.

My lifestyle isn't perfect, but my goodness, I'm trying to make it fun!

Long time no post.

 But I'm back!

After 3 months of 'wandering in the wilderness' - I'm over it.

So I'm back.

Since my previous NY resolutions starting on the 1st have been a resounding failure, I tempted fate, and started on the second.

I'm tracking food (ugh, but necessary!).  I'm aiming to exercise 5 times a week.  From as simple as a 5km walk - through to my running training and PT.

Yes, you read that right.  I am doing some running training.  I have a big, big wish.  I want to run the Womens 5km - and run the whole way.  I don't care if it is slower than last years time ( 50 minutes) - but I am going to run.

I have the best coaches in the world to help me.  Now, it's up to me.

So - Day 1
A PT session and a hills walk with kidlets on bike.

Day 2 - A walk with the mother, and the rest of the day spent fishing with the boys - Miss G had some quality grandparents time.

Fish was then had for tea.  Not too shabby!

Don't forget to come check out the-FB Page

Life gets in the way sometimes

I've got so much to learn in the healthy eating business.

I'm proud of where I have come from, and where I am heading.  I'm loving PT, liking the occasional walk .....

And yes, that is where it is ending.  I'm not doing enough.  I'm exercising 3 days a week, and 2 of those days - not always raising a sweat.

Adding to that the mind cluster screwing 9 week bloody plateau - and you have - yup, a slightly loopy me.

Needless to say, I've been assessing this quite heavily, and seeing that basically I have a mind block (I still see myself how I was, not where I am).  I have to assess my friendship base - I've had some awesome support from some, and some backhanded support from others.  I'm using it too much.  I need to do this for me, and to quote the rappers - ignore the haters.

So - my commitment from today.

1/ Track food/water.  I'm aiming for 1500 cals.
2/ Exercise.  Minimum of 2 gym, 3 walking sessions.  Minimum.  Will try and squeeze a swim or two in there!
3/  Stop looking for support where it isn't.  Just stop.
4/  Count my blessings.  I'm SO lucky.

My FB page.

My FB Page

If you would like to see more of my ramble - or my funny pics (I love pics!)  Check this out.

Food is not the enemy.

I need to learn this.  I'm eating so well during the day, and then screw it up by eating junk or too much of a night.

I realised I'd been seeing food as the enemy - the cal enemy.  And it shouldn't be.  It should be food that nourishes and helps me to move - not good foods and bad foods.  Even though this weeks mindset talked about this - I went and did it anyhow :P

Ok, this is my job this week.  From now.  I'm not going to look at food in this way.  I'm going to think of what it can provide to my body.  If I want chocolate, I will have a piece - not the screw it and eat the whole row attitude.

I've learned that this giving weight away business is 80% nutrition, and 20 % exercise.  But most importantly, it is 100% mindset.  And in my case, my body will hold onto the weight when I am in a bad space mentally.

So that is damn well going to change!

At 12.10pm today

I came to a realisation.  I'm happy.  I'm happy when I exercise.  I'm currently loving life (although missing my husband dearly :( )

Exercise makes me happy.   I love the feeling of being healthier.  I love the working-out until I nearly spew moments (never again is yoghurt a breakfast before PT a good idea!) - I love the gentle walks, I love the running around like a mad fool on the hockey field.

To explain the pic - the big one is the Gorge (in the city where I live).  It is in flood at the moment and is just amazing.  It has a great little track to walk along.  It is full of hills.  I used to huff and puff and need to rest.  I don't now!  The top pic is the cal burn of that walk.

The middle pic is me attempting not to spew, after today's workout.  OMG.  Worked so hard, felt so good.  Weights make me happy!  The last pic is my cal burn from a primarily weights burn.  SMASHED it.  I have the best PT (although just quietly, I was not loving her in the treadmill deadweight runs.)

There is no way 12 months ago I would dream of doing this.  6 months ago - me at a gym, bahaha.

Now, it makes me happy.  Life really is good.

I'm back in the saddle!

I'm back!

After 5 weeks of being sick/injured, and basically just using hockey as my exercise :)

I am back on the horse!  The top left photo is a picture of the leg press machine.  The plate is 53kgs, and it has 80kgs on either side.  Yes, I made my 200 kg aim (I pressed 213) and did it in 2 sets of 6.

The cal burn is from the PT session(top right), and a lovely wander this morning of 6km (bottom left).  My exercise selfie was done before the DOMs have kicked in :P

Irony is the DOMs are in my shoulders - it was a legs day.  LOL

Since I'm on a roll

I can do this!

Thoughts. Processing the "journey" this far.

Jeepers, a long time between posts, then two in one day!

Anyhow, had a quiet first day to the round thanks to a sick girl child.  Thankfully she is my sleeper, so her method of dealing with any sickness is to sleep it off.

This gave me the morning to really contemplate about this weight loss business, and more than you ever do bargain for when you make that new years resolution to "lose weight"

217 days ago I registered my interest in 12WBT, and 210 days ago, I bit the bullet and signed up.  As I have said in my previous post, in that time I've lost 42 kilos (about 92 1/2 pounds) and 180cm (70 inches) shed from my body.  Wow - it is huge.  I'm not denying that.

But ...

It is never, ever going to stay off successfully unless I work through why I got myself to the morbidly obese stage I did - nor is it healthy to not address it.

Quite frankly, I was obese because I was depressed.  Never diagnosed (well besides Dr Google) but I have NO doubt as to what it was.  I had/have all the symptoms.  Eating made the dullness - I don't know - go?  I couldn't verbalise how I felt - I couldn't explain it.  I didn't want to upset others, so I thought I could work through it and all would be right in the world you know ...

Yup, not the best way to work through depression.  In fact, even now I have days where I just feel worthless.  Thankfully nowadays they are few and far between, and I have trustworthy 3rd parties that are paid to get it :P

Perception is another huge one.  Fat people are percieved differently - look at social media, at media in general.  That guilt (and mostly perceived guilt) didn't help the good old depressive moments.

I also felt lesser for giving up my career to become a full time mum.  Ah, the good old WOHM/WAHM/SAHM debate.  I have no regrets for doing it looking back - but that first couple of years, when we truly struggled - I did regret it.

But that is all excuses.  Excuses that are incredibly valid - but still something that needs to be worked through.  My method of working through them was the problem.  Miss "I can do it without medication" was medicating - with food.  Looking back - even to last year, it is so obvious.  So obvious.  But, until I was ready, I couldn't see it.

Now, lets add to this "journey"

I moved to the opposite end of the state when the boy children were 8 weeks old (and the girl child just 2).  Boy 1 and 2 (which we didn't know at the time) had ear problems - which meant essentially they found sleep painful.  At almost 12 months, we had a 3 week block in sleep school - and yes, still didn't sleep.  Countless grommets, adenoids x 2 each, plus removal of tonsils and uvula for boy 2 finally lead to consistent sleep throughs at 7 and 8.    Ah yes, food was my saviour at that time.  It kept me awake so I could cope.

As you can see, I self medicate with food.  This 210 days has taught me that this is common (yay, that made my day learning I wasn't the only one!), that by owning each piece of food that goes into your mouth, your eyes are opened about how much food you actually consume.

Ironically a lot of days, I wasn't eating enough - flinging my body into starvation mode.  I'd then eat like a maniac - meaning that poor body of mine had no idea what the hell was happening.  Added to being morbidly obese, the thought of exercise was horrifying.

I remember puffing walking up steps - walking longer than a km, gosh - anything.  I'd avoid anything to do with exercise except my beloved hockey.  Each game would push me over for days though - leaving me short tempered and craving food.  Argh!  LOL

What I have learned thus far.

- Clean eating tastes amazing.  You feel good.
- I do have hunger pains.  I honestly can not remember what they were like before.
- That making a bad choice is not the end of the world.  Own it and move on.  Beating yourself up - achieves nothing other than guaranteeing another bad choice
- Exercise hurts - but it is an okay hurt.  Pushing yourself to your limit, not other peoples - amazing.
- I adore weights - and that is the direction I can see myself going.  There is only so much cardio I can do, and it doesn't interest me.  Weights feels amazing, it feels right, and I love feeling stronger.

Psychologically, about 3 years ago, I was affected badly by someone who spread lies.  The new me would attempt not to GAF about it all (and most likely still be affected :P ).  However, it wasn't the new me, it was me at one of my lowest moments.  It lead to a lot of turmoil.  But, I've risen from this.  In fact, the barbs have helped move me along when JFDI doesn't work.  The lies unravel, and the real me is emerging.  I won't lie - I still am affected at times by the aftermath.  But that is my perception and something I have to work through.

One day ...

And although that moment in time, and from then on had people decide they could no longer acknowledge me (least they were honest - so much better than back stabbing), through this time some very special friends emerged.  Some rocks from the past remained, and I thank them all.  Do any of them "get it all".  No, I still have walls up, and can't say they will ever go down.  But they were there, they helped, and I will never forget it.

To be blunt, my major catalyst was probably something insignificant compared to most people.  And it is a blip - there is so much more I could have lost.  I know this. I accept this.  But it doesn't mean it isn't important - to me.

Thanks for reading my blurt out xx

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Well my poor neglected blog - I'm a slacker.

Round 2 - it has been all about the inner teen.  I've been fighting that rebelling bitch the whole round.

And you know what - she almost won.  However, she didn't.  I managed a 10kg loss, and 40 cm shredded away.

So on a whole - I have lost 42 kilos.  I have lost just over 180cm.

So this is what I have lost
And cm wise - a whole shoe lace.  It doesn't look much - until you open it up!

I've pushed into new waters, discovering a new found love for weights (Oh so much burn - love).  I pushed out a 39.20 parkrun (and went down with pneumonia the next week!).  I've got upto 25.20 running, and only stopping due to pulling out the emergency stop magnet (Oops!).  I found the best PT in the world who gets it.  She is a 12WBT Alum and has amazing insight in how to deal with things.  I love her sessions every week and have really learned from each and everyone.

So, my aims for this round.  Round 3 - the round for me.

My commitment for this round of 12WBT -

I'm not focusing on weight loss. I'm focusing on a stronger, leaner me. I'm committing to exercise 4+ times a week. I'm committing to put every skerrick of food into MFP (I've slacked on that!). I'm committing to keeping up my magnesium, and to drink at least 3 litres of water a day. I'm initially not going to exercise on days I get called into work. But, I am going to work out how to fit it in during this round. I'm going to eat clean. And love it!

I'm going to do the learn to run program. I want to be able to run 5km by November. I'm not a runner, so that should be entertaining. I have a PB of 39.20ish for the park run - I'd like to beat that, and do it all running.

And for the fun stuff. I want to try a new food every week. I want to fit into an aeroplane seat without an extension belt (I think I can, but I want to be sure). I want to drop another 2 dress sizes. I want to leg press 200 kilos - and in a set. I want to win the hockey grand final (ok, that one may not be 12WBT but anyway :P ). And most importantly - I want my good health to continue. Oh, and continue on my search for cal-free chocolate :)

A lot happens in a week.

You know, your 3 children all come down with a mystery illness.  Which turns out was bronchitis.  Poor bubs.  Turns out in the early stages, Bronchitis is contagious.  Ergo, mum with it as well.  So since the last time I have posted, I have walked maybe 4000 steps (in 5 days - oh the shame).  I have been quite sooky and miserable.  Thanks to those that listened to me bitch - it has been quite a ride.

Needless to say, with 4 of us down and out, none of us - well ate.   So this week's weigh in was a huge success (4.2 kilos).  That is the weight of this:

Nice!  Today, I'm really starting to feel better as well - so back to work slowly I go :)

This weight dump has managed to throw me over the 30kg mark lost.  Nice.  Since my theme so far has been fish - who am I to disappoint ...

Yup - I have lost 32.2 kilos, and a whole mako.  Nice!

Thank you all for your support.  Hopefully tomorrows exercise will have me back and in the game again

Tired ...........

As a run down of today - run (warm up for boot camp), boot camp, walk, then walk on tready at gym, arm and abs workout, pick up kids and take to various sports, and then another walk while waiting for 2 of the said kids.

This is todays burn.  the first 0.00 is bootcamp, the second is weights (arm and abs)

Cal burn - first set is the walk while the boys were at soccer.  Second is at the gym (weights and walk).  Third is run, bootcamp and walk.  Nice burn :)

Over 20000 steps today (or 16.69 km's) moved today, and DOMs are well ... magnesium and advil ain't going to do any saving from this pain!

And for my non-Tassie viewers - this is my sights while I walk -

I love Tassie :)

Hump day - and the fallout.

To start with, I want to have a bit of a "boast".  Last night I had a AGM for aths.  It traditionally is a sugar feast, and last night was no exception.  3 packets of tim tams.  My nemesis!  I managed to sit, sip on my coke zero (not ideal, but hey, the lesser of the two evils!) and not let a morsel past my lips.  I confess, I didn't have anything, as I knew that if I did start - I may not have stopped.   Damn the home made fruit cake looked divine!

For 2 1/2 hours, I watched people eat.  And the majority was mindless eating - eating for the sake of it.  How I recognised it?  If you look in the dictionary for the definition of mindless eating, there would be a mug shot of me.  I'm not going to be able to pretend that I can resist everytime or even next time.  I'm human, I'm me.  There is every chance I will f*ck up sometimes, lets face it.  But this time - I resisted, and I am proud.

Anyhow, onto today.  After having a quick skinny latte with my family, Mum and I headed for a quick walk (440 cals).  Nice warmup for my gym today.  Today was run day, where I had to do a quick warm up, and then run - for as long as I could.

First week - 2 minutes, 2 seconds.  Today - 15.46.  OMG.  I may have only lost 100 grams this week (my sins of Mothers Day catching up with me ) but wow - I'm really pleased with that.  In all honesty, I can walk faster - but I ran and kept the rhythm.  It felt good, and now I know I can do it.  The bottom two pics - well you see, I felt on top of the world because I ran - so I figured after I finished my 40 mins on the tready, I'd push myself.  2km on the eliptical in 16.32.  Talk about burn.  I then finished off with a squat or two (or 5 groups of 20).

PPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNN.  Magnesium supplements can only do so much Fiona!

And for those of my followers - don't forget #drinkupbuttercup!

3 litres of water, and some musings about today.

yesterday - check!

Today's workout was yesterdays L2R program.  In the end, as I wanted to get some km's in  my legs - 72 minutes on the tready, and 7.0 km walked/run.  Nice.

So far, so good with this week.  I'm not going to pretend it is easy.  It is not.   I work my arse off to be healthy- to be a happier me.

In real life, I've met a few obstacles.  People who don't quite get why I am doing this.  A person who is convinced I have got WLS to "get this far" (ROFL - and waving "hi" if you read this - I didn't).  I want to be healthier in body, and in mind.  That is why I chose this program.  I needed the mindset, the support to be me, and people to kick me back up when I fall down.  And a massive thumbs up for the new menu and it's design.  Love it!

I was also pleased to have a lovely chat with Catherine today - thanks for coming to chat :)  Hope it helped.

I'm currently sitting watching a FB group who I was involved in last time virtually implode.  I'm saddened, as I am such a fence sitter and like to see both sides of the story. Its a habit that puts me in good stead for my career, but not in this case.  I need to bite the bullet and go.

Well, of to make 'I can't believe it's not butter chicken' tonight - 320 cals of yummy goodness xx
